Hey folks ... I have had my 355 for 2 summers now and have really been enjoying the boat. But I am wonder what the best (most ecominical) cruise sppeed is? I have cruised any where from 3500 RPM up 4200 RPM .... it all feels good but I figure there must be a sweet spot .... Any ideas out there?

Lots of hours this past week in my 348 (2005), and depending on gas / water on board, I found 3400 rpm was perfect and gave me around 29 mph on GPS. Lower rpm brought me off plane in large chop or sharp corners, and 3700 gave better speed - but I was in no big rush. This was with 5.7 stern drives.

I just sold my 338 and ran her 9 hours straight with the new owners for delivery. No flow meters but we did surprisingly well at 3750-3800 rpm, about 28.5 mph ave. Engines are the 6.2 mercs. edit - to concur with jinizi, I estimated 1.2mpg. perfectly clean bottom keep in mind!

I see about the same, 3800rpm is about 29 mph and we are about 1.1 - 1.2 mpg. We have the 6.2 w. Bravo 3.

I have a Sig 290, BUT I would install 2 flow meters and connect them to your GPS. This will give you MPG an GPH.

Sea/lake conduction change from time to time. So your speed and trim will to. So now you can get the most out of it any time.
