Hi all,
I am looking to buy a bigger boat. Right now I have a 260 Searay. I plan to keep it and buy a 348 vista. Anything bad or anything like that about the 348? It has twin 5.7 volvo 320HP Gen, Ac/Heat and more..

I have looked at the 340 searays. I like the four winns a lot better. I would get a 340 Monterray, but I only really like the new ones. :)

I moved from a 2860 Regal to a 348 - 2005. Loads of room and still very stylish. Check the current thread on small gauge wiring used on fridge(s) - applicable to this boat but an easy (mandatory!) fix with some new wiring. Wiring and grounds should be checked thoroughly before purchase to insure everything works, but I found some items improperly labelled in the fuse box, that I thought did not work (outlets) that were simply controlled by some other switch. So turn on all electrical, and switch them off to see if they indeed control what they are labelled for. Shower sump works, but may be undersized if original - again, an easy fix. Had to rebuild a headrest that snapped as it is too easy to use it as a grab rail . All in all, a good boat that I have no regrets purchasing.

Also a complete hull survey and moisture test is mandatory. Area of concern is where the swim platform attaches, transom, and stringers aft.

The dirty little secret about the 348 hull is that the deck does not drain. Water will pool on top of the gunwales at about midship. FW in their infinite design wisdom didn't provide functional scuppers.

Cap'n: Can you expand on your "aft stringers" statement?

Same on the 318...right over the fuel fills.
