OK, maybe a naive question, but where is the filter for the fresh water system? The water pump is in the galley under the counter and behind the trash can door, but I don't see a filter anywhere? Perhaps it is at the base of the water tank under the V-berth cushions and hatch? Nothing back at the water heater, but then the boat didn't have one when I bought it (the water heater had been leaking and removed but never replaced--but then if it was back there in the stern you wouldn't get filtered water for the galley and head faucets it seems to me.

Not sure what you mean by "filter" there is a mesh screen or should be, before the water pump behind the trash. I have an inline filter on my dock so when I hook up the city water connection we get filtered water there.

Nope, no mesh filter or sight glass with one before the water pump. The inlet hose side of the water pump just goes foward through a hole in a small bulkhead up towards the tank

There was a filter that came with the boat in a box with other miscellaneous spare parts, so maybe he was going to install one? Guess I'll have to take the V-berth apart and stare down at the water tank to see if there is one there.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I own a '00 328 vista and I hadn't found any freshwater filter.
I have the same question as yours, but no answer up to now!!!

The only one we have is also at the pump, behind the trash.

Same here, I'd bet it has been removed by a previous owner..

My 328 didn't come with a filter, only a screen after the pump. I added a 2 stage filter under the sink (after the pump, before any outlets) so the water doesn't taste like plastic any more.

Thanks all--I'll take the V-berth cover over the water tank off, and see if I can see one down in there.

If not, I'll add a screen type one before the pump to prevent debris from getting to the pump, and then maybe a real filter after the pump.

Weather--did you notice a drop in water pressure at the shower head and lav and sink faucets when you installed your filter?

There was a small drop in flow, but nothing we notice - that said, we don't shower on the boat.

I would not drink that water! Its a story, but I will get into it if someone ask. After buying my new boat I had to add a vent hose and vent thur-hull. I used a clear hose and after one year the inside of the hose was turning black with mold.

I used a bleach wipe and a snake and cleaned to hose and removed most of the mold and added a treament again. I have always used that water to wash with. Drinking water I carry on.

I've also added an 8" twist out access panel to the top of my water tank so I can do a real cleaning with bleach each spring and keep an eye on it during the summer. True, I can't see what's in the lines going in/out of the tank. Next season I'm going to add a UV light, which would enable me to use lake water if I really wanted to. Not sure what effect all that filtration and UV would have (if any) on mold though - I will have to look into that.

Them and humans...I've spent enough time interior camping drinking hand filtered lake water, so that doesn't bother me.
