My buddy installed a new spray down shower in the bow of my boat. He installed a hose spigot w a ball valve under the windless cover then ran a new pipe and tapped into the fresh water line (which is already pressurized) with a T-valve. Now all I do is hook up the self-coil hose w nozzle and spray the sand off our feet before entering the boat. Works great! |

You will really like that. We installed front and rear wash down hoses with a separate pump drawing in lake water. We tee'd into the seacock for the toilet water supply and added a check valve in the toilet supply line. Even when the lake or river water is not crystal clear, this still makes a lot of difference for rinsing the anchor, the deck, the bow ladder, or our feet. The rear wash down hose is great for cleaning up the dinghy or swim platform. I would think it could even offer a little entertainment value in a "no wake zone" when the kids on a towable behind another boat are within range ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We did the same thing like you stated with the transom shower last year but were unable to get the lake water to pump through. Would a check valve help that much? |

I installed a check valve in the toilet supply line to prevent water from being drawn from the toilet to the wash down system. This check valve is in the engine compartment near the seacock and just after the "tee". I was concerned that the 60 psi 4gpm wash down pump would draw the water from the toilet supply line causing the wash down pump to lose its prime and run dry. With the check valve I have not had any problems with the wash down system. The only thing I have noticed is with the Jabsco toilet's manual hand pump. It flushes water just fine when the lever is set to flush, but when the lever is set to evacuate the bowl the hand pump sometimes meets resistance on the down stroke. Patience and light constant pressure for 2 or 3 strokes downward will usually get past this situation, and then it works normally. |

SI by chance would you know what size the hose is on the water intake or what size check valve I should get? I would like to try to install one this weekend to see if that will fix my situation. Thank you. |

The outside diameter of the hose is 1 inch. I believe the inside diameter is 3/4 inch. The check valve in this link looks like the one I used. The cost was around $20. http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?pa ... &id=826034 |
