Post subject:  Windlass Foot Switch

One of the foot switches for my windlass no longer has a cover. It looks like the plastic rotted and the cheap plastic hinge broke off. I didn't think it was a big deal until the day my wife was up on the bow to free the anchor and unknowingly sat on the switch with no cover. It took us both a second or two to realize what was happening and why the windlass was retracting by itself. After the dust settled I felt a bit foolish for not recognizing the potential danger. She could have easily lost a finger of worse.

I am now shopping for a replacement cap and am a bit surprised to see that I have to purchase the entire switch. I believe what I have now is a Maxwell P19007. Up here in Ontario I am looking at $100 each by the time I get them home.

Does anyone know of an alternative switch or a replacement cap that is available?

Thanks

Thanks for the link, that is the best price I have come accross. The down side is they wanted $60 to ship to Ontario.

I was able to find switch covers in Canada for about $30 each so I ordered them up.

Alex, curious where you found them and what are the model/part numbers of these foot switch covers.

Thx.

If you are shopping from the USA you are correct.

If shopping from Canada you are very wrong.

My comments all reflect shopping from Canada eh.

I just purchased 2 switch covers from defender.com and shipped to Portland Ore. was $67.38.
The only thing I don't really care for is the new covers have Maxwell on them rather then a blank cover.
Otherwise happy with them.
