The unit fitted to mine is not even polarity sensitive according to the instruction manual and just needs a +ve and -ve supply; it takes something like 5-6 A, the bulb is 65W so quite a light gauge cable was used. They recommend a 10 A fuse or breaker.
I think if I was using it at night, the red and green navigation lights would be invisible !
