Getting a fair bit of swing happening in a breeze at anchor. Anyone using a bridle succesfully? And if so what lengths and setup did you use? |

You might try an additional anchor off the bow at about a 60 degree angle or so from the main bow anchor (aka Bahamian mooring). It will help reduce the swing some, but may not stop it. I've heard of some others that will run a bridle from the mid ship cleat to a temporary loop you tie in the main anchor line maybe a boat length or two ahead of the bow. This will take some special temporary rigging and experimentation when anchoring. A stern anchor may help some, but I haven't had too much luck with that. If you are in a very protected area you might try anchoring off the bow and also tying the stern to shore, but this could be a problem if the wind changes. It may help if you have all heavy chain for an anchor rode so you can reduce how much anchor rode is used, but this might increase the likelihood that the anchor doesn't hold. Hope this helps. |

Anchor bridles generally go from the 2 bow cleats made from rope/line. Used with an all chain rode. It will not reduce your swing. But as Surface mentioned, a Bahamian mooring is in a 2 anchor set up would be better. |
