I will be ordering a Rocna 10 anchor to replace the Bruce anchor I currently have on my 268. Has anyone with a similar boat switched to a Rocna or a similar new style anchor, and how did it fit on the existing roller? I am wondering if I will require a new roller. |

Yes, a rocna should fit. Must take measurements of your current and compare with rocna. |

I use a Manson Supreme 25 on our 268 and it fits in the roller after bending the strap a little by hand, but it doesn't always launch smoothly. You will love that style anchor, it has ridiculous holding power and sets very easy. What kind of bottom do you normally anchor in? |

Thanks for the replys. If all I have to do is mess with the strap I will be happy. I have this vision of pulling the new anchor into place only to find it hits the bow under the roller. I would measure but the boat is in hibernation, and regardless I am going with the Rocna... I was hoping, I suppose, for some one to say... "It's gonna fit perfect". As for lauching, if I don't leave the Bruce to dangle a bit I have to give it a shove to get it started. I hope the Rocna is better, but it doesn't sound very promising. There is a Rocna Vulcan that looks like it would launch better but I think it would sit far too tall in the roller. When the boat is at the cottage we regularly anchor in sand. Trips to Georgian bay, as you know, are sand, heavy silts, and boulders. |

I had a delta anchor on our 248 and it fit fine, i don't think you will have any issues with it fitting. Friends we boat with switched to a rocna last year on there 328 and they love it. |

I swapped our anchor on our 318 with a stainless anchor. These anchors have held up fantastic for us in sand or rocky bottom. The key is just to have enough chain. http://www.marinepartdepot.com/wibeshau28.html They look alot nicer than a galvanized. |

They are pretty darn decent as well. Just not a 'name brand'. It's worth a shot if you are interested. I didn't have any holding issues with it. I got one for our new boat as well. so far so good. They do have 15-20% off sales off those prices as well... Just another option to consider. |

I received my Rocna by courier today. I like the look of the stainless but I am a tech junkie.... I like the engineering behind the Rocna, and I have to say I am very impressed with the craftsmanship... You can totally tell these are made in Canada!  I did check out the other items on the site. That is a great resource for anyone looking for anything stainless... I have never seen better deals. |

If you're impressed now just wait till you set it for the first time...I recommend you and your guests hold on to something during that process  When you anchor in Georgian Bay do you ever attach a trip line/marker on your anchor because of the rocks? I hhaven't used one in the North Channel yet, but we are planning to spent more time in Northern Georgian Bay this summer and I'm wondering if I should bring one this year? As you know these anchors are not cheap so I would hate to lose one |

As you know these anchors are not cheap so I would hate to lose one We never use a trip line, but last year I put 60' of chain on when we went to the bay. The first time we put the anchor into about 30' of water, when we tried to pull her up she would not come. Stuck!! To be about 45 min swinging the boat into various positions and eventually she let go. I always have 3 anchors onboard and it was getting close to the point of letting her go. So a trip line would be great for that. |

I had never heard of a trip line until now and I like the idea. I have pondered how deep I could dive to hook a rope to a stuck anchor, and let me tell you, your idea seems much better. I have only anchored for a few hours at a time in Georgian Bay, not over night yet. That is going to change this year. The boulders do worry me, and I am considering the trip line. Like you said they cost enough that it would suck to lose it. |
