I have an Igloo Marine Ultra 94 and it is worthless and the dry ice trick works great but the wife and kids don't like the salt taste on their drinks.

I had an igloo marine cooler once, threw it away. Even with all the "tricks" shit was warm 12hrs later.

I went to the boat last night and measured the space for the cooler.

It's too big. by 2". I'll be searching today for a replacement. This is for the 278

I know, but that cooler sucks. I use an igloo marine one now. Looking for an alternative.

Would there be any value in drilling a couple of small holes in the side of the lid (hollow) and shooting some expanding foam in there?

The best insulation is a vacuum, as used in quality coolers and dewars. I'm quite sure the cheap igloos have just air in the voids. They're technically just big tupperware containers hence why they're so cheap.

Hence my question about shooting foam in there....would insulating foam be better than the air void, since the Igloo Marine seems to be a relatively crappy cooler?

As long as it's a closed cell foam can't hurt at this point

I would love to have a nice high-end Engel or Yeti to replace my 94 Igloo Marine Ultra but I am worried that someone would steal it and I am not dragging that thing home each time. I am going to have to do something though because we live on our boat for 2 months straight during the summer and I have to put in at least two bags of ice a day (more on weekends) just to keep it semi-cold.

I have that Igloo Marine Ultra 36 and use it every weekend. It hasn't even warmed up for the year yet and I am only seeing the ice last a little longer than one day. I fill it on Friday evening and by Saturday night it's mostly water with a little ice left.

I may try to fit a Yeti into the cooler compartment on my 288, going to try to do a test fit with a friend's before I drop the $350 on one.

I have yeti coolers, would love to fit one in my 268, but I think it's too wide. I think am going to buy one of the large yeti bags, they work fantastic!
