I am trying to understand how the 3 charging systems on my boat are set up, and further how they work with each other. Aside from the alternator and 120v charger, I have a BlueSky solar charger which is set to end the bulk charging at 14.6 volts. Can anyone tell me what voltage the alternator and 120v charger end their bulk charge at? |

Alternator anywhere from 13.5 to 14.5 although will never charge the batteries much beyond 80-90%. 110v charger is most likely a "smart" charger so that will be across the board. |

Off the engine, use a volt meter with the engine running. |

Thanks for the idea for the alternator... I would assume when ever the battery reaches the same voltage as the output the alternator will drop the bulk charge. As for the 120v charger, I don't know the make or model, and I don't see it on my electrical schematics either. I will be at the boat this weekend, hopefully I can pull a name off of it. Cheers. |

Alex, my '02 268 has a Guest Charge Pro 2620 battery two bank battery charger. A fully charged 12 volt battery should actually have 12.7 Volts. A battery charger or an alternator should be delivering approx. 13.5 to 14.5 volts to charge a 12 volt battery. A charging system needs this extra 1 to 2 volts to get the battery to take a charge. |
