I just purchased a 1999 238 Vista. Due to lots of rain, we have only been out 4 times. So far, we love the boat. My problem is I am unable to get water to pump into the toilet. I have tried turning the valve in the engine compartment and not any change. It does pump out any water we pour into it. Any suggestions what I should try? Thanks. Steve M. |

Steve, You can buy an inexpensive rebuild kit for the Jabsco toilet and change the seals in the pump - that's almost certainly why it isn't working... |

A short term fix that I did in our 268 is run some water from the sink to "prime" the pump. I found that the first use of the season the pump has a tough time getting the water from the intake. Just my 2 cents! Good luck! |

Try putting some dish soap in the bowl, a cup or so. It will lubricate the seals and prime the pump. I tried rebuilding one once with limited success. You can buy the whole pump a a replacement part. Like 90 bucks at west marine. Probably find cheaper on Amazon |

I believe you have to prime the intake ... it escapes me how to do so right now because to be honest I'd rather use fresh water from the shower head than take the seawater in .... seems to keep the smell down a little bit. I'll see if I can find the thread describing how to do so. Found the thread on this (no wonder I remember .. I was the one who posted the same topic) viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13280 |

Thanks for the suggestions. I ordered a gasket and will start there. I like the shower water idea. Thanks again for your help! |
