Post subject:  Possible issues with i6300 Throttles

I have had some unusual gremlins in my 2009 358 Vista since buying 3 years ago. No mechanic has ever solved them. Everyone always looks at the engine mechanics but I have always suspected the issue is in the throttle electronics.

I previously had issue with 1 engine dramatically losing power when cruising. The fix was to shut the engine off and restart it. Sometimes took a few tries but after it was fixed it ran perfectly for a while. I always suspected it was in the throttles but never was confirmed.

Now, I have both engines occasionally losing power simultaneously down to idle, I pull the throttles back to throttle and then push them back up and things are normal.

Do you guys agree that there are no "mechanical" issues that could make both engines lose power simultaneously multiple times? Must be electrical in the throttles??

Thanks

The 2 engines are rather independent of each other. I would think your theory is worth pursuing.

Have you checked for crud in the anti-siphon vales which would restrict the flow of fuel? This sounds more to me as a fuel supply issue. Had a problem like this on our previous 258. We found millings from the manufacturing/assembly process in the anti-siphon valve.

I will check things like anti siphon and fuel filter but if it was crud, wouldn't it be awfully strange to happen in both at the same time?

Any body have any experience with reflashing the software in the throttle?
