I have a 2009 vista and when I press on the trim tab switch I get a clicking noise on my stereo, just started doing it and I noticed as well my volt meter is reading just less than 12 volts. I have checked the alternator and it is putting out 14 volts. Not sure if the 2 problems are related.. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Thanks

Have you hooked up the volt meter to the radio power leads and then hit the trim tab switches to see if there is a significant voltage drop at the radio from using the trim tabs?

Last week hitting my trim tab buttons would turn off my Depth Finder??? Very strange problem, It turned out my alternator belt had inverted and was no longer turning my alternator so low power on my batteries. Could this be the same problem? The trim tabs obviously use a LOT of power.

Start by verifying and repairing any voltage drop to the helm. Next, you may need to wire a CAP across the leads to the trim motor.
