Post subject:  99 Vista 258 - fuel pump wiring harness corrosion

Recently had issues with corrosion in the wiring for the primary fuel pump. Mechanic recommended replacing the wiring harness (end) but a search of parts lists at

http://www.volvopentastore.com/Fuel-Sys ... _id.775944

failed to find the part. The problem was causing a voltage drop at the primary fuel pump, so above idle speed the pump would whine and quit, causing the boat to stall. Dielectric grease is temporarily resolving the issue. Can anyone help with how to find this part?

Mechanics recommendations (verbatim) are as follows:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The part isn't on the diagram. It's the wire connection that connects to the vertical fuel pump in diagram # 1.

I don't think that female end is available. I searched far and wide. Looks like you'd have to get an entire wiring harness. Twin city may have an old one that we can get the clip from.??

Other options:
1.Take pump out and have a custom end made ( I've never done it but could tackle it) I'd have to make a trip to radio shack to find parts..

2. Find a used one.

3. Use the boat as is ( keep sea tow card handy)

On most electrical connectors there is a way to get the metal clips inside out. It takes some patience and some small tools but the metal generally will come out. If you get it out clean them up really well, you should be ok. If not its only 2 wires correct? Just go buy a marine electrical connection and cut both ends off and replace with that and heat shrink butt splice connectors.
