hi everyone, just curious if there are any theories out there. Sometimes after coming off plane and to a stop abruptly, the engine will stall out. It restarts, but I don't know why this happens. Am I doing something wrong or is there a possible issue with the engines?

I've got the Volvo penta engine. Can get more specifics if necessary.

Any other symptoms? Does it run rough at idle? Does it take longer than usual to start? How long has it been doing this?

How rapidly are you pulling the throttle? How well does the engine idle, and what rpm? Perish the thought, but have you had to work on or change the fuel cell (fuel pump assembly)? Volvo or Merc? 5.7 or 7.4 engine? Mine is a 5.7 Gi Volvo.

Does it just shut off or does it seem like it's starving for fuel and dies slowly?

I would consider cleaning your IAC motor/passage way and throttle blades with carb spray. A dirty/sticking IAC and carboned throttle bore could certainly cause that issue. Worth a shot for the cost of some carb spray

Sounds like a classic Idle Air Control (IAC) problem!
