Rarely do we use the back sleeping quarters, I was unaware there was a vent for heat / cooling - it was hidden behind the night curtain, which we have also never opened. One recent hot day, I discovered it DOES exist, but was not putting out any air. Here it is: ![]() To gain access to the venting I had to pull the cover in front of the air conditioner, behind the stairs, and it also contains the vacuum. ![]() Can you see my problem yet? Access was going to be fun for a 6'2", 250 pounder! But the worst was yet to come. There was a short run (about 2 feet) of insulated 4" tubing running from the air conditioner to the wall vent. When removed it looked like this ![]() It also had zip ties holding it onto the both the end fittings. ![]() It was short, fat, difficult to access, and it had TWO different fittings. On the vent fitting was a round 4" fitting, hopefully you can make it out in the following picture, on the left side. ![]() The other end of the tubing went to an OVAL fitting on the air conditioner itself. In the following picture I have it stuffed with a rag so you can make out its shape against the black background ![]() The 4" tubing and insulation was force fit around both the round and oval fittings, and secured with screws and washers + zip ties, which over the years have ripped the material and let the tubing fall off. ALL THIS HAD TO BE REATTACHED, WHILE CONTORTED AND UPSIDE DOWN AND DONE IN A HOLE I GOT STUCK IN TWICE. MY ARMS BARELY REACHED BOTH FITTINGS. IT WAS NOT FUN! (yes I am yelling here!). Anyways, got it reattached finally and have reasonable air flow in the rear bed. It better not fall off again as my age will soon make this an impossibility! I know some things are added to the boat as it is built, and access to everything is always full of SOME compromises, but why did Four Winns do this in such a manner that it is almost impossible. I feel better now, I think I will go enjoy some cool air in the back! |

Nice post and pictures. I enjoyed it even though I don't have a Vista. I'll bet that cool air was being lost going into compartments that didn't need to be air conditioned. After all, it must have been going somewhere. |
