Just a word of warning to anyone owning or considering purchasing a pre-bankruptcy Four Winns Boat. DON'T DO IT! . I have reached the end of my efforts with a very disappointing conclusion - Four Winns will NOT honor their warranty following the bankruptcy. My newly purchased 2007 Vista 358 developed hull cracking above the water line due to a manufacturing defect. They two warranty-covered repair attempts (cosmetic) were unsuccessful and the cracking returned. Four Winns now refuses to cover the repairs. I had a hull survey performed and a glass shop review the cracking. Both state that something happened in the manufacturing process that caused a weakness on both sides of the hull, just above the water line. The only way to repair properly is internal bracing prior to external cosmetic repairs. Estimate is about $15,000. . Mr. Ralph Hoskins (Head of RBH Warranty) and Mr. Dave Thomas (Warranty Representative) of Recreational Boat Holdings have stated that they NO LONGER RECOGNIZE THE WARRANTY. Doesn't matter that the boat has documented Four Winns warranty repairs from day one. Tried BoatUS for help and support - sadly, they were not interested. . Love the boat (my 3rd Four Winns), but I'll never buy another Four Winns because of my experiences. Problem is that I'll take a large hit on resale when I move to a larger (42 - 44 foot express cruiser) in the future. Hate to say it, but I'm starting to look at Sea Ray. |
