So I bought the 2000 Vista 248. Took it out yesterday on its maiden voyage and the family loved it. The only issue I noticed was with the anchor/bow roller is there is no where in line with the roller to secure the anchor line. It has two cleats (port/starbord) but that causes the line to go to an angle from the anchor locker and the end of the roller was cutting into it. Anyone know how to secure the line without using the cleats? Can I add a cleat so everything is in a straight line? Hope this makes sense. Thanks

The roller is there to make anchor and line deployment/ retrieval easier. When sufficient line is out, the line should be secured to one of the cleats. The unused line between the cleat/ roller/ anchor locker should not be tight, the cleat should be taking up the load so nothing should be cutting into the line

There is no cleat next the the bow roller?

Mine does not have a cleat either. As Graham stated, tying to either port or starboard cleat shouldnt affect tension on the bow roller or pulpit at all. It should be kept loose enough coming out of the anchor locker that it doesnt put tension on the roller.

Set the anchor. Motor forward and get slack in the line ahead of the roller and tie it off on a cleat. This way there will be no line rubbing on the roller/pulpit

Thanks for all the tips! Worked much better this time.

I use a v-bridle with anchor chain hook at the V. Each side then ties to a cleat. Reduces swinging in the breeze a lot.
