Couple of questions about the ac on my vista 288.

1.) It is a Cruiseair 10000btu unit....is that large enough for a boat this size?

2.) How long do they typically last? I assume the ac in my boat is the original from 2004.

3.) Does this look bad??

Thanks in advance

mine is identical - works fine in the Aussie summer.
The gunk in the bottom of the pan - may just want to clean that out.
I've not heard that these units fail.

GI Auz: any tips for cleaning the bottom of the pan?

What temperatures do you see in austrailia? Here in North Texas, we get up to a high of 104 sometimes during the summer. During the winter, we get down to typically the high 20's. Does the AC and Heat hold up during these extremes?

Thanks

Todd

Mine has a little gunk at the bottom too. They should last a very long time. I have several friends with older boats and their units still work.

I don't have problems with the North Texas summers. Just keep you filter clean and it will keep blowing snowballs

Even when I'm not at the lake I keep it on the HU1 setting so mine pretty much is always cycling.

The unit looks good but I advise that you keep your air filter clean because you are going to have a hard time cleaning your coils given how close they are to the electrical box. You might even want to hit the coils with some no-rinse coil cleaner every now and then to try and keep the coil buildup down. I recently yanked out a partition under the settee that was up against my coils and I couldn't believe how dirty and clogged they were. Also, you can spray the coil cleaner in the drain pan to help break up that stuff because it is the same gunk that is on the coils and then run your water hose on it for a while.
