Ha guys, just got in the boat for the first time this spring and it is time for some upgrades. I need a new coffee maker has anyone found a good one with low draw and decant size and were does it fit?
( no 12 volt)

Used the small Krueig on our 248. It slide under the cabinet when we weren't using it.

We use a kettle and a coffee press. Makes the best coffee going!

I assume they will all have a similar draw as they all have to put out enough energy to heat water to a boil. I would think the only difference is how much water you have to heat.

We have a simple 4 cup drip coffee maker onboard that works great for us.

Sits on the left hand side of the counter agains the back wall, on a non slip mat.

If the draw is a concern, would it be fair to assume you have concerns when not using shorepower? If so, is it an inverter you are planning to use or a small generator? Any small 1000w generator should suffice. Most inverters of the 1500 watt variety "should" suffice for any small coffee maker. As mentioned, the amount of water you plan to boil is key to minimizing draw on the house battery. If this is your concern, and not meant to hijack the thread, but perhaps adding a second or larger house battery would solve the problem.

Not sure if you have a microwave on board, but is it a possibility to boil water and then use a press or Mellita type maker. If so, just remember to put a stick in the water prior to boiling it to prevent superheated water from scalding you when removing the water from the microwave. Many boat Microwaves draw 600 - 750 watts.

We use a 5 cup Mr. Coffee or similar coffee maker. It sits on the counter under the upper cabinet when not used. We have used the Honda generator or the inverter. We have also used the microwave for her tea, etc. We have a Kuerig at home. I often say that when it comes to coffee I am a consumer more so that a connoissuer. When I get up in the morning on the boat I am not too fussy about whether the coffee is excellent, ....or even better. The cup of "Joe" tastes real good in the morning, and even better on the boat..

We use a Coleman propane coffee maker in the aft deck nothing else needed makes 10 cups takes 18 minutes though but hotter than at home

+1 When away from the dock this is exactly what we use. Makes an excellent cup of coffee and fast. Uses the same propane cylinder as the grill

When at the dock we use a cheap little Mr coffe 5 cup from Wal mart that fits nicely in the cabinet behind the sink. Fwiw according to our inverter this little thing draws +50 amps....more than if we run the air conditioning off the inverter. Thats why we bought the propane one for extended time awsy from the dock, and now we have a Honda generator so who knows what we will bring

+1 on the single serve Keurig, makes only what you need in less than 2 minutes, no extra pot to store or clean, no grounds to clean up, just throw away the pods...I have my coffee, Admiral has her tea and it goes back in the cabinet.

We use a small Keurig as well and store it in a cabinet when finished (no mess to clean up).

We also have been using the single serve Keurig for the last three years. Works great for us since we are almost always on shore power.
I do like the idea of the coleman propane for on the hook. I may pick one of those up.

Single Serve Keurig is what we use on the 318. I pulled the factory 4 or 5 cup coffee maker and it sits in the little spot left behind, with a toaster and some other cooking accessories.

It'd be perfect on a 268, wouldn't take up much room at all.

Picked up the Honda I see. Slight adjustment in boating lifestyle needed eh? 8)

That will come in handy when your anchored in a cove here :D

Yup, same here
I use a single serve Keurig coffee maker on a converter, but when the portable genny is hooked up, its coffee eggs and toast in the morning
