I wanted to ask any 318 owners if they have chased down a water leak coming from the front windshield which makes its way down the cabin door jamb to the cockpit floor. Looks like it is sneaking in just below the windshield and under the dash cover piece. Also, looks like the bolster on the sides of the arch show some signs of dirt/water trail.

Finally got the boat in the water - spent the day tightening screws and cleaning (previous owner wasn't too concerned with the minor details...) Had to change the fuel filters to get rid of a full throttle backfire..

Got the engine compartment somewhat cleaned up - Learned how to move the STB seat over to access Generator and engine. Found no water circulation for the gene so I guess an impeller change is due this week.

Couple of thoughts/questions - the outlet in the front of the kitchenette below the microwave does not work. I checked the basics as far as wiring/fuses/switches - Any ideas?

How do you guys access the AC condenser to clean - I can barely sneak a mini vac head in there to suck the dust away - couldn't imagine trying to straighten the fins. Is there an access panel on the side of the couch? I had to get in there and tighten up the power unit which rattled really badly when compressor kicked in.

I would like to mount a bigger TV in the cabin to replace the smaller kitchen cabinet door unit - Any suggestions for a clean installation?

Swim platform compartment for power/washdown always takes in water - any quick solutions to seal it off? I was just going to tighten up the latch and maybe but a rubber gasket in..

Besides the huge list of small things to tackle I love the boat. I am impressed with the amount of headroom and storage - Learning a new boat is always an ongoing process but so far so good!

I have a trickle of water on mine, although some strategically placed caulk and gasket material has about made them all disappear.

The A/C outlet - there are a few with GFCI's on them, look in the head cabinet for one as well as the cabinet behind the range, should be one there as well.

A/C condensor, on my '08 that Corian top is velcro'd and lifts off, also the intake grate flips down, I think on the '08 the Corian is screwed down though.

When I was looking at an '07, I had the factory quote me a new cabinet door to replace the door with the built in TV. My '08 has the TV to the right of that, facing the main berth, 26" on an arm above the range.

Gasket material at the tops of both stern storage lockers worked wonders for me, they now stay bone dry.

Hope this helps!

Joe

Changed out the blown generator impeller last night - I really like the movable stb seat on the 318.. Comes in handy to lay on when working over on that side...

Another question - I'm getting no signal for the depth finder, I found a box on the boat with an old transducer and it looks like the connections for the current one are sort of cobbled. Is there a separate power source/switch for the depth option on the C80? I pulled the head unit out last night and checked all the connections, cleaned up the transducer connection - still no signal.

Any thoughts?

Honestly not real sure on that one, my temperature sensor reads real crazy but depth has been fine. May just need to replace the depth sounder.

You should have a DSM behind the C80 (under the dash compass) that the transducer plugs into

I have found that the DSM is a picky unit and I added a separate power feed with a switch to turn off its power. If the unit gets confused, a power cycle of the unit will fix it. I have also learned not to trust the labels on the breakers. My Microwave is actually on the gallery outlet and the I have never figured out what the Microwave breaker controls.

The Gen impeller is usually good for 2 seasons before a replacement is necessary. I carry a spare because it always fails when you need the gen.

Thank you guys for the info - I haven't had a lot of time to just be on the boat and go over everything so this arms me with some good info..

I had all intentions of digging into more last night but the cockpit fridge kept tossing beers at me ;)

I had ten minutes to run out to the boat today and pulled the C80 out of the dash - it looks like the Sea Talk cable is plugged in and the DSM is not being used.

This may be a vague question (my fault out of lack of knowledge) how do I test this system?

The Transducer has a cut in the line about 2 feet from the unit itself where the new one was spliced in. My initial thoughts:

Repower / reset the unit
Check for power at the transducer splice
If power found - replace transducer
If no power - trace back from C80 to find a power source/break or fuse.

Is there another box to be looking for on the other side of the sea talk cord to check out?

The C80 will not accept a direct connection from a transducer, it has to go to a DSM 250 then you should have a cable from the DSM to the DSM jack on the back of the C80. If the DSM is not being used then I would say that is your depth issue. I am also assuming you have depth selected to show on your display.
You might want to talk to Raymarine technical support, they are usually pretty helpful
