I am going to inspect an '04 288 Vista in a few days and have a few questions to ask the 288 owners.

1) have you installed an inverter, and if so where did you put it?
2) what is the actual length of the boat? All I can find is 30' including the swim platform?
3) anything to watch for on this boat? It is outfitted with Volvo's.

Thanks

Also, did the 288 come with a grey water tank or just a black water tank?

1. No inverter at this time. I will need to add at least one more house battery before I would even consider adding one. But with the generator, I have never found it necessary.
2. All I can find is the 30' as well, that includes the swim platform, so it is about a 28' hull.
3. Nothing specific I can think of, but I have Mercs.

As far as a grey water tank, I believe it was optional, I only have the black tank on mine.

Have genny - no inverter - don't need it.
My version has a black water tank, 100L water tank and 70L 'holding' tank. The 'holding' is setup as freshwater and decants into main water.

I have minor water leak on stbd radar arch that drips onto elec control panel - annoying.
Look for rust/corrosion on port trim reservoir mount - hard see area - not a big issue.
Other than that - no concerns.

Thanks again.

Anyone ever lower the arch? Is it sinething that can be done rather quickly? I would like to get it into a shop to do some cleanup work on it.

The arch seems attached fairly permanently. I suppose you could remove it, but I don't see any exposed fasteners on mine, and it's all sealed up nicely around the base with caulk.

I have not installed an inverter but did install an additional house battery locating it on the port side to balance the load. All I have is 30' overall from the manufactures specs. Make sure the frig runs on house batteries. A common problem with the 288's, at least in my case, is the wire to power the frig is too small, 14AWG creating too great of a voltage loss. I had to run a 10AWG from the source and it works fine now. If you wind up buying the boat and need to run a new wire, check back with me and I will walk you through it. Not too tough, just time and patience. Best wishes.

No issues with the Volvo's. I have the 4.3's with duoprops. Very happy with the performance and economy.
