Has anyone ever removed the ceiling liners in the cabin of a Vista? I am changing out the old crappy horn (that quit last summer) and I am installing a nice new dual trumpet air horn ![]() |

Yeah, I removed the starboard side of the ceiling last spring when I ran new wire to the spotlight I put in. The horn is much easier to access since I sealed around that wire while I was in there. Obviously the caps come off the screws then the screws come out. Then you have to be careful - they used velcro on the ceiling panel and ceiling. They staple the velcro in to the ceiling side and I think it was adhesive backed velcro on the ceiling tile side. That stuff is hard to pull apart and it wanted to pull away from the ceiling (staying stuck) instead of separating nicely. I replaced some areas with strips of that 3M scotchlock? velcro that they sell at west marine. Take your time and maybe have a helper to help keep the velcro from tearing away from the ceiling. Then while your in there you can probably get a good idea of what you're looking at for your TV install. Good luck! |

Thanks. I was worried about the velcro but that might actually solve 2 problems at once as my ceiling doesn't stay up all the time. After a good run, it will drop about an inch to an inch and a half. I smack it into place, and then it falls next time I run the boat. |

Hmm.. Yeah, the adhesive probably came loose from the ceiling side since that's all that was holding the velcro to that side. I wanted to spend more time on mine maybe trying hot glue with the velcro but never got back around to it. It managed to stay put with what I did in the spring. |
