Gents,

I am still learning this new for ke 288. The RPM gauges jump around. I can tap on them until they even up and boat tracks straight. One also gets moisture. Recommendations on how to start the troubleshooting?

Most tachs have a switch on the back that allows calibration to the number of cylinders the engine has.
The contact on this switch over time gets corroded.
Open up your dash and note the position of the switch on the back of the tach.
Then turn to each of the other positions and then back to the correct one. You may have to push in on the switch to turn it.
Do this a couple of times and make sure the contact is engaged properly.
This should solve the problem.

As for the moisture issue.
Remove the gauge.
Take the light socket out.
Lay the gauge upside down in the sun for a few hours to allow the moisture to evaporate and vent out thru the light socket.
Ensure the light bulb socket is sealing good on the back.
If you don't spray water directly onto the gauge when washing the boat, the moisture should not come back.
