Hey all,

I have read a number of threads about the DC power source for the fridge on the 288's.

From what I gather the fridge either works on DC or it doesn't. And, if it doesn't work it's likely due to a small wire. I also understand the the AC power source is not a concern. Am I correct here?

The fridge on my 288 works just dandy on 12 volts. The part that makes me nervous is this is a fridge the last owner put in just before selling me the boat.

Do you think that last fridge was more likely to have died from low voltage, from old age?

Is your new fridge an exact OEM replacement or did they install a newer and more efficient style that draws fewer amps? It wouldn't hurt to pull the fridge and take a peek at the wiring, I would be concerned that undersized wiring would wipe out the new fridge same as you

Dang it Ben this has to be on my list of things to do. What size wire did you run on yours? Mind does seem to work just fine though but I've always been planning to do this. Kind of got distracted with a fuel pump lately

Secondly how much of a PITA is it to do?

You need to pull it out and look on the tags to see if it's setup for D/C. Some are some aren't
