Recently took delivery of 2011 305V, twin Volvos 5.0's.... I have most figured out but cannot locate a battery switch panel. Thought it would be in stern locker panel or on electrical panel in cabin, or near batteries .... I have been all over and cannot find. Manual was no help. I have 3 batteries, under power I get DC to everything, and at shore I get shore power to everything, but at anchor,.... Nothing. I see that there should be a switch that is probably off, but I cannot find location ..... Thoughts ? |

Thank you for the "welcome's" .... No panel on way in except on transom, (in which their are a couple circuit breakers, and the rotary power switches to port/starboard engines ... But, with nothing for house battery. ..... Only hatch near stern is access hatch to port side engine and location of 3 batteries and charger. I had traced cables briefly, (around hot engine), but could find nothing. I'm baffled. |

Whats not working when you are at anchor The things like a fridge and courtesy lights should work. Anything like plugs and a/c won't because they are 110v. You would need a generator |

Re: "what's not working" .... When I anchor, (and shut down engines), I get about 30 seconds where I have power, (windlass, lights, stereo ), then it all shuts down ..... I assume this is switching over to house battery, but it is not enabled. .... When I restart engines, I get everything back, and again on shore power. ..... Gotta be a switch somewhere .... Or it was not installed? While on shore power I put external charger on house battery, it is fully charged. I took delivery with only 43 hrs on her, the house may have never worked, obviously original owner rarely used and may have never looked into house battery problem ? ..... Maybe it was factory built wrong ? |

Sounds like the house battery is bad or not connected correctly. Check with volt meter after it quits working. The battery charger and the alternators are providing 12 volt power while connected. |

Yep, check in any doors just as you come in the cockpit, or look for seat back cushions in the back cockpit that slide up. |

That's a very strange problem. I can't imagine a reason why they would build in a 30 second timer to switch over. Either your house battery is running down in record time, or something else. The only something else I can think of is the battery isolator. I searched for the exact wiring but was unable to find it. Those battery isolators / combiners are just large diodes. Maybe when its powering from the house battery, the diode is over heating and opening up. You should be able to work your way back with a voltmeter. |
