2001 248 vista. 5.7 gsi. Only showing 12 volts at the gauge. I have cleaned the grounds, replaced the alternator. I have a new belt but haven't installed it yet. I took apart the battery switch, and cleaned all of it. Any other ideas? I am getting 14 at the battery but losing it somewhere on the way to the gauge. I put a meter on the gauge and it is accurate. Any ideas where to go next? |

Any change when you turn accessories on/off? Do you have any higher draw accessories wired to the dash (such as an AMP)? |

I've had this same issue with mine. The dash gauge reads 1-1.5V lower than the alt or batteries. I think it is built up resistance in the dash wiring harness. In fact on my boat this led to an over charging situation because the alt sense wire comes from that ignition/dash wiring harness. Found this out by putting a digital voltmeter on the batteries. I had 14V at the gauge but 15.5v at the batteries. At that time I was replacing the alt with an Arco unit. The Arco instructions said to disconnect the factory sense wire and run a jumper from the S terminal on the alt to the B+ terminal. This gave me a normal 14.2v on the batts but 12 on the gauge. |

No amp or anything like that. I'm going to unhook all the harness plugs and check them for corrosion but haven't had time. I'll let everyone know if I find anything |
