Post subject:  Engine Hatch Actuator

Purchased a 2008 338 Vista earlier this summer and have been trying to enjoy it as much as possible. Since I received the boat I have had difficulties with the electric engine hatch opener(actuator). The only time the engine hatch will open is if I am plugged into shore power and everything is 100% charged up. If I leave the dock the actuator will work for a little while then it appears there isn't enough power to open hatch. when I get back to the dock and plug-in the hatch won't open for some time, I am assuming to get battery back up to 100% charge. I installed a new deep cell ship battery already and we have tried to track wires and grounds. I have read a lot about FW not installing the correct wire gauge to different appliances, I am wondering if voltage drop would be my problem or do I just have an old actuator that needs to be replaced.
We do all our boating in Lake Minnetonka and our gen picks up and clogs with weeds frequently and to reset generator I need to open hatch. No hatch opening = No gen for the rest of the outing.

I had an issue with the hatch actuator on my 08 V338 last year. When getting ready for the season, my hatch would sometimes open and other times it would not. I was not connected to shore power as the boat was still on land. I checked the house batteries for proper charge levels and found them to be fully charged. I next checked the wire harness and electrical connector. What I found was one of the wires on the actuator motor was loose. I replaced the connector and my actuator has worked fine since. Perhaps you have the same issue.
