Ok Gents,

I got this Vista 288 in June. It had a prop leak. It was a small one but I figured I take it to get fixed before putting in water. I got the prop seals replaced and while at it and at the recommendation of shop, replaced gimbal bearing. Guy that sealed props said the outdrive looked good. A day later it had a leak again and this time the shop said it was the hose that corroded. They replaced that. A month or so ago I noticed another leak in water. I thought it would be the trim cylinders, and the outdrive would not go up. I figured I wait until I take boat out of water to replace that since I am having a lift put in in 2 weeks. But, the other evening the engine stopped shifting in hear. I mean, I can put it in gear but it goes nowhere. Like a clutch slipping. The reservoir for outdrive is full. I spoke to shop, they think water may be going in outdrive.
Any thought, ideas?

Sounds like the breakaway coupler is broken. (the part that's supposed to break before ruining the internals when you hit something)
