On the seat directly behind the helm, the support leg isn't straight up and down, but rather leaning in. I tried replacing it a few years ago and it didn't fix the problem - any ideas? It is held in by two screws which thread into bolts in the seat base and it just wants to lean in a bit, causing the seat bottom to slope downwards. I could replace it with a slightly longer leg to offset it? ![]() |

Is there anyway to put a spacer under the back to make it open more? A machine shop could make you a wedge that has the left side thicker than the right... almost like this carb spacer, but solid |

It appears that the leg is short causing the leg to lean and the seat itself to be low on the front edge. Measure from the floor to the bottom of the seat at the back edge of the seat and again near the leg to see if the seat is level. Or, you might try taking some blocks of various thicknesses and temporarily putting each size block under the leg to see what it does. When you find the right thickness you could make a shim out of wood, starboard, or other material to get the right height. Another option is to cut a section of pipe the correct length from a chrome pipe such as a ceiling fan extension pipe or plumbing pipe. The only question I have is whether raising this end of the seat would cause a twist in the seat, or maybe straighten it. |

Plenty of machine shops near me so this should be an easy fix. I've tried a slightly longer leg, about an inch longer. Same issue with it wanting to lean in (to the side) and there is just enough forward and back play in the folding mechanism to let it try to lean in (towards folding up) just a bit. |
