My Xantrex Truecharge2 40 is set to "Flooded" battery type.
However my battery bank looks to be "Calcium Lead".
There is a Calcium setting on the charger. Anyone know any reason for not using that setting which provides a higher absorption voltage?

IT has to do with gassing during a charge and the charge voltage. in the flooded mode you will be charging with 13.5 volts a max at 14.4 and in a true calcium-lead they have a slightly higher absorbed voltage around 15.5. If they are both Calcium-lead and are new then you could probably do the 15.5 but if you are not 100% just leave it in the flooded mode since that will reduce the risk of overcharging.

After a long charge you could measure each with a volt meter or check with the battery MFG on the absorbed charge if you want to change it to calcium-lead
