I'm not sure what years or how many different Vista's Four Winns used this garbage can in but it has been discontinued and hard to find for a couple years. It is the can that fits perfectly into the under step mount on our 05 268, and Great Lakes Skipper got a shipment of them so that if this is your can it might be a good idea to grab a spare.

Ben, is this under the upper step? Would you have any pictures of the installation? My '02 268 does not have it, but it sounds very interesting.

Chris, the link below is from my second response to your audio system question and has this link to a boattrader ad ( http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2004- ... -102758926 ) for a 268 with a couple pictures showing the garbage can installation in pictures approx #35 and #62.

If you have not yet re-purposed the whole area under the step for an amp or other things, it might not be too hard to make this work. I haven't done it yet. My boat went to storage a month ago, so all I can to is dream up stuff to do next spring.

Thanks gary, I kept picturing the small upright storage just aft of this step(under the entrance to the cabin)

Still trying to figure out a trash system....

We mounted our inverter and disconnect switch as high as we could on the forward wall in that compartment just behind the steps. We have used a small flip top garbage can sitting in front of that compartment. There is room for a few small items in the compartment, but it would be nice to do something different with the garbage can.

When I was last in the boat, I only found 1 screw in the top step. Ran a little short on time, so I figure I will look at it another time.... I am waiting on the stereo amp until after I get to see what it sounds like basically stock....

Our 2000 268 came without the trash under the step. We simply ordered an new carpeted step from Four Winns, which now came hinged along the fridge side, and bought the trash bin. It was an easy installation and made for a fantastic use of that space
