My 2009 D4 engine 278 when running well is lovely, but continues to show problems, The last one was the water hose came off a coupling on the outdrive The VP dealer did not fit it properly , so the cooling system was deprived of water when on the plane. Sorted now ( took me over 3 hours to replace the coupling/ fit the hose, only 2 bolts and hands cut to shreds.

Factory bodge, the shift cable, ; its specified as needing a 15 foot cable. They used a 16 foot one and did a crude bonding bodge for the actuator to move it a foot or so The VP dealer relocated it to the original position. Shift issues.

I was going to give up DIY maintenance, but the quality of professional maintenance seems very poor here so its DIY again.

Or if you want it done right, do it yourself!
Unfortunately it seems that this is the way it is with boats, seeing as how you have the boat manufacturer, the engine manufacturer and then the accessories, etc. At least with vehicles, the manufacturer is responsible for everything except the tires!
