Ahhhh yes, the FUN you will have getting a new door.
Four Winns doesnt sell/remake the companionway (read: Cabin) door for my 1997 Vista 278, and the original manufacturer went out of business with the blueprints. This is what Four Winns parts told me at least.
SO with that being said, Four Winns gave me the name of a company in Florida called "Teak Isle". Teak Isle had me send my original broken cabin doors to them, and they recreated them perfectly. It cost about $800. Ridiculous, I know. But I wanted OEM and wanted perfection. I wasnt going to try and sell my boat in a few years with a jerry-rigged door made by myself out of a sheet of acrylic!! Its worth mentioning that the earlier versions of the Vista used a SMOKE colored folding door, with a piano hinge. Ive owned both a 1999 Vista 258 and currently own a 1997 Vista 278, and the doors are certainly uniquely designed and engineered over the newer Vistas, which have a white acrylic companionway door......
Anyways, I'd try Teak Isle. They were SO helpful. The door they remade is amazing, and is 100% matching to the original design, although they were NOT the original manufacturers of it.
Good Luck Ryan! I am in Harrison Township, if you want to come look at the doors Teak Isle did on my 278 Vista, call or text me 586.872.6530.
I do not know what the door looks like, but to get a factory door replica made like this is awesome, I would pay the $800 in the situation, for the same reasons you gave
