Hey fellas, I'm a long time reader of the forum and have learned a lot from all of you since the wife and I purchased our 2002 268 last October. Tonight was suppose to be our first overnight test on the boat. We got all setup this evening only to find out that our A/C was having issues and not blowing cold, and with temps in the 90's today we opted to go home. I would like to pull the foot locker to gain access to the A/C. Is there some trick to removing the wood paneling? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Welcome to the forum. I don't have AC but from what I understand there are a few things to check before pulling the cabinetry. Make sure the AC water pump is pumping. These pumps may need help getting primed. There was a recent thread on this. You do need either shorepower or a generator producing 110 Volts. An inverter may work for a little while. Check breakers, etc. You should be able to have a tech service it if freon needed. If necessary, you could use things card board or heavier plastic between the cabinet face and the headliner to protect the headliner as you move the cabinet face inboard and tip it to remove it. There should be angle brackets inside the cabinet that hold the footlocker parts in place can be removed. Those that have removed the footlocker seemed to indicate that it was a challenge. Do a search on this site and other sites for issues and ways to fix your AC. Best of luck. |

I pulled this out on my '04 268 when I upgraded the A/C. It's been a few years, but I recall it was pretty easy to gain access, try removing the vent and any other screws you see. It's a snug fit, but should pull right out. |

Awesome! Thanks! Yeah, I have confirmed that the pump is flowing water at a better then decent rate, and the blower is just moving room temp air around, which only leads me to believe that it may be low on freon. But as a new to me boat, as most know, its a challenge to figure out what previous owners have done or in some cases didn't do lol |

Is the compressor turning on? Any codes on the thermostat? The cabinet is a super tight fit and not fun to get in and out. I had mine apart when I had my 248 to install an A/C unit. |

I can only hear the fan running and I have one of those dummy style A/C controls, (just the three knobs). I was expecting to hear the compressor kick on. The folks I bought the boat from said they never used the A/C and they were the original owners. If that is true, then this thing could have sat dormant since 2002 .... |

I have had a few of the thermal overloads go bad on the compressors. It's located right on top of the compressor and can simply be removed on the wire put directly on the compressor for testing purposes. You need to check and see if you have power getting to the compressor |

Thats a great thought, I will see if I can get in there and check the power to the compressor. |
