Did the factory provide a anchor rode access panel behind the v-berth mirror for access? If yes, does anyone know how the oval mirror is fastened to the bulkhead? |

You don't mention what model Vista. On our 348 (now the 358) you remove the 'headboard' on the berth. There are two screws that go through it into the bulkhead. The screws are capped with plastic covers, just pop 'em off. That will let you get to the four screws that hold the mirror panel into the bulkhead. Once they're removed you can get to the bulkhead itself. That has a hinged access panel that allows access to the rode locker. Might I ask why you need to get into the locker? |

That is where our 268 access panel was. All you have to do is lift straight up on the mirror. Then just turn the access to open it. What Vista do you have? |

Bill, I have a Vista 298 - It would appear to be the only means of getting to the Maxwell 500 windless and checking or changing out the anchor rode. I would hope that the bitter end of the rode is anchored to something within the locker. |

There are some pictures by either Brett or Bren in the Vista forum that show their Vista with a cleat on the inside which is used for this purpose but again this is no guarantee that it was done properly |

Yep those would be my photos. If the mirror is secured like on the 248/258/278 you just "lift" the mirror straight up. It hangs on a pair of stainless steel pegs that slide into two brackets on the mirror backer. There should be a cleat on the inside of the anchor locker (there is on my 248). Here are few photos of a 248 for example. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Bret, The mounting of the mirror seemed simple but after pushing upward (with some force), no movement. I did not try pushing down thinking that they would not have mounted it to fall off (downward angle). I may try to wedge a ruler or some other material behind the mirror - it's possible that it has never been removed and the stuck to the bulk head material. Any other suggestions? Mike |

Some sort of non-sharp edged material, like a plastic spatula or wood ruler (without a metal insert) would work. It's possible the vinyl got sticky enough to have adhered slightly to the back of the mirror material. You can use the ruler to also feel around from the edges to determine just where it's actually being held to the bulkead. Make sure there's not a screw that's been put through the mirror frame holding it in place. Look for plastic covered 'buttons' that hide the screw heads. Once you're sure there aren't any screws involved, a few firm whacks with a rubber mallet should pop it loose., |
