I have a mount, center rear, above the aft storage compartment. Couple questions
Was that factory
If so, what size pole fits?
Lastly, I know there is a flat circular spot molded into the fiberglass for the mount.

My boat is slipped a couple hours away...
I see west marine has a nice 1" diameter pole.... the base measures 2.75" diameter

Hoping that if the mount already there isn't 1", that the mount with this new one would work....

Thanks for any help, nothing like last minute...

Gonna need pics to help you out. There wasn't a factory mount on my 268, in fact, I used the flag setup I just sold - worked great on that rear railing.

That's what I was afraid of. The previous owner seemed to remove a few things from the boat, that should of stayed.... thanks for the info!

The new one looks exactly like it. From memory the other is similar, I don't remember the set screw.... there is a perfect flat area in the fiberglass that they mounted the base.... hoping this works for $100.... I already have screws from the old base. I looked at yours and decided to stay with the same style....

Ok, then this is it. You have to buy the nice flagpole to get the nice base.

http://www.boatersland.com/tay904.html

Same setup I had on my 318, just without the expensive rail mount. 30" pole was on my 318 and on my 240, can't recall for sure but I bet I transferred the flag over from the 268 to the 318.

16x24" sewn flag looks great on it.

That location on the 268s without an arch is where the anchor light fitting is. It takes a 6 ft 4 in light pole.

Thanks Gary!
Is your boat close to measure the diameter of that spot?

Chris, the anchor light base I have is like this, except mine is white. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/attwood- ... cordNum=65

The specs for that base say it is 2 3/8" diameter. That is the diameter of the flip up lid or cap. The diameter of the flange that is screwed to the boat is about 2 1/16". The anchor light base has a 3/4" diameter by approx 3" deep hole for the pole light, except that the top 1" of the hole is 1" diameter A flag mount base with a 2 3/8" flange should be fine. Have a look at whether you want to add a small bead of sealant around the base or not.

Thanks Gary! I bought the 2.75" diameter flag pole base setup. I hope there is a little extra room around your light base

I will know tomorrow if it will work

I was thinking about getting a small tube of 4200, thanks for the suggestion

The 2 3/4 flange will have about a 3/16 to a 1/4" overhang all around. You could use the 4200 as a fairing compound to make a relatively smooth transition, kinda like caulking a bath tub. Use tape to mask the area and a squeegee (or maybe an old credit card???) to smooth the 4200 to make that smooth transition. It should work fine. Its always nice to see the flag displayed. :D

So, are you thinking that flat spot diameter is approx 3" and I have about 1/4" of flat between the mount and the area the fiberglass rolls up.? That would be fantastic!

No, the flat area is more like 2 3/8". The larger base you got will extend beyond the flat area on the boat. But set the fitting in place and see how much of a gap you have under the edge of the mount. This gap could be filled with the 4200 so you have a smooth looking installation.

Gotcha, thanks for the info,

Last question, hopefully, is the recess a complete circle? I was thinking the back was recessed and the front just rolled into the aft area

I am going to get a couple spacers 2.25" diameter, 1/4" thick made of aluminum, then I could space it up, caulk to fit :)
