Has anyone pulled a gen out of a 378? It looks like it will come out with removing anything, but I need to make a few measurements.
I hate to pull it out, but someone needs to fix this thing once and for all. I've exhausted about every option that I can think of.
Thanks,
Rob

I have been fighting my gen all season until finally I think we found the issue. Mine would run for 30 sec and then tell me loss of coolant. We clean heat exchangers, put in new flow sensors, etc.
They were able to slide the gen back (towards motor) just far enough to replace temp sensor that is buried on the back side of gen by the exhaust. Terrible place to replace. Works great now. Knock on wood.

Congrats on figuring it out! They are feisty buggers.
Mine is not temp or waterflow related, it's fuel. Once I get it running, sometimes it will run for 3-4 pretty smooth with a load.
So far, here is everything that has been looked at: Kohler 7.3e about 300 hrs. Hard to start and then will surge or hunt for long periods of time. sometimes it will smooth out. when it does run, produces 116vlt, voltage had always been good when it runs.
New fuel pick up - good times @^##
New anti-syphon valve
New fuel line 1/4"
replaced the kohler fuel filter twice.
2 new fuel pumps
New carb
New choke
Ran it off of small 2 gal fuel tank, ran better, but then started surging again.
adjusted choke multiple times.
3 set of new plugs
checked valve clearance, adjusted to .01 , they weren't far off. checked compression 210 on each.
Cleaned new carb and checked anti diesel valve. seems to move freely.
I've had 2 kohler cert techs come out, make a few adjustments then a few hrs later or the next wknd, back to the surging or hunting.
Next plan is:
another new carb? Why not, it's only money...
new coils and igniter?
At a loss...

What you describe our Kohler was also doing, ours turned out to be the electric choke, you could see the choke linkage moving back and forth in tune to the surging. I would think your Kohler technicians would see that scenario pretty quick and I see that you did replace your choke already.
