Curious about fuel burn rates on these. All would be about a 2000-2003 models. I understand there were likely different options for each but the 328 I am looking at has the 5.7s with the DP drives. The 298 and 288 let's assume they are the most popular engine packages. I haven't actually found a specific 288 or 298 yet. If you have a site with this info that would be great. So far I haven't found it. Here is the crux of my question. Ideally I think I would like a 288 or 298 because of 1) fuel usage 2) towability. I know both the 288 and 298 would require permits but ease of towing is more the concern. There is a 2000 328 local for sale that has been sitting for a few years. It won't start but the suspected cause is paint in the fuel pumps. I have been steering clear of anything over about 30' to help keep fuel usage lower but if there isn't much difference then I won't factor that in. |

Each? That's better than I thought. I found a PDF on FW site that has numbers for the 2017s but I was thinking that was per engine? They were stating around 16-25 GPH for the 288 up to the 338. So these are both engines combined then? I think my current 25'er burns around 10 GPH so that is good to know that I won't be burning much more fuel than I currently do. In your case about 16 GPH compared to my current 10 or so? |

Go to http://www.four winns.com , click on "Owners", then under "Catalog and Product Information" click "view catalog", select the year, and download the "Fast Facts" document for that year. The Fast Facts will include all the fuel flows and most other specs for each boat model and each engine/drive package. This should give you the info you are looking for. |

According to site the 2000 298 and 328 burn the same fuel rate with the same engines? Speed is lower at equal RPMs past 4000 but other than that the data is identical? |

Off topic- but are twins supposed to burn fuel the same from each tank? Or do they draw more fuel from a 1 tank? I posted a new topic on this. My 298 burns 2x as much fuel from starboard tank. |

You might try setting the fuel valves so the port engine only draws from the port tank and the starboard engine only draws from the starboard tank. This means closing the one center "crossfeed" valve that separates the two sides. As you operate the boat, any unlevel boat position will allow fuel to flow from the high tank to the low one. If you need to run both engines from one tank then you would open this this "crossfeed" valve and close the valve for the tank you don't want to use. |

At 3200 rpm I get approximately 1.5 miles per gallon. |
