2007 Vista 358 - what's your experience using the Generator and A/C while getting up on plane and cruising?

you'll get mixed answers, but we ran the 328 and the 378 on plane with no issues. As long as both pickups stay in the water you should be good. The gen will self prime if it comes out. The a/c will take a little bit of travel to re prime.

Thanks Lakebum. I've no wake zone run with the genny & A.C. Running, but never (in 10 years!) tried it on plane. Always worried about losing flow and having to prime them to get them running again.

The manual for my 2007 358 says to NOT run the gunny at speeds above cruise.

So I don't!

I reviewed my owner's manual (maintenance & operations sections):
.
A/C - I did not see any cautions about use while underway.
.
Gen - I found "The generator can be operated while running at or below cruising speed. The generator should not be operated when the boat is being run at high speeds. Insufficient cooling water may be available due to the speed".
.
What defines "cruising" versus "high" speed?

No issues with a 268 or 318 running both the generator and AC at any speed. I always started them at idle speed, never while we were underway.

My personal opinion:
Cruising = up to 3500rpm (or maybe a little higher)
High Speed = 4000rpm+

Thanks for the input. I'll just have to give it a try while the admiral monitors A/C & Generator operation.

Beautiful boat. Big water boaters run ac while at cruising speed all the time.

With how fickle, expensive, testy, and sensitive my Kohler generator is (btw - I should say my NEW Kohler generator, as I replaced the factory installed one this past winter with a newer Kohler), I would NEVER even attempt to do anything to irritate it, such as run it while cruising!! I can barely gather the courage to start it while anchored, as Im afraid something is going to break ((again)). lol

I feel your pain. I haven't had the guts to run it while running. It takes me two hours to change the spark plugs - 5 minutes for the plug facing the port engine, an hour to change the unreachable plug against the side of the boat, then 55 minutes to retrieve all the tools I dropped behind the Generator! I don't want to tempt fate. 600 hours and still running strong.
