A link to the Four Winns parts catalog for the 2000 268 is here:

http://parts.fwdealer.com/Catalog/Categ ... 8V-D00-Z00

Click on the "P/L 268V Blank Engine" drop down. The Four Winns and cable manufacturer's part numbers are shown. You can also see pictures of the components by clicking on the camera symbol. The engine cable is 17 feet long (P# 176017) as identified by the last 2 digits of the part number. The shift cable (176018) is 18 feet. The part numbers for the 2000 model are different than my 2002. I am not sure what the difference is, but maybe some internet research might produce some info.

Also, have a look at the throttle quadrant you are looking at compared to the OEM throttle photo. Make sure that your replacement will work.

Hope this helps.

I do know if you are changing it yourself. Mark the hole on the shifter that it is in. There are two holes less than like a 1/4 inch apart and you wouldn't think it would matter but it did on my 248. One hole is for mercruiser and other for Volvo.

These shifters come with instructions to show you how to adapt it to different cables and the different throttle and shift cable set ups. What matters is if the throttle pushes or pulls the cable to advance the throttle and if the cable pushes or pulls to shift to forward. Once you figure that out, just follow the instructions.

The cable housings are attached to the plate or bracket extending down below the shifter, and of course the cable ends are attached to the control arms. The cable housings may be clamped or ty-rapped through the boat just to keep keep them secured.

Yes, and that is the set up I have. According to the Four Winns parts list, the 2000 model had a different throttle quadrant and cables. Not sure which version you have.
