I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with MarinAire. The Dometic replacement for my V288 is almost 1k higher then MarinAire 9000 or 11000 BTU.

I also had a 10k BTU. MarinAire makes a 9k and a 11k. The guy from there said the 9k is what I need for my boat thatthe 11k was too big. The Dometic is a 10k. Any ideas if a 11k would be bneficial over a 9k?

Marineair is dometic now....
https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/rebranded/marine-air

Curious, where are you located, if it’s the south, I would Go larger

What is the primary color of the boat, if it’s dark blue or black, go larger....

I believe I have A 5k in my 268 vista, it’s white, and we average between 90 and 100 for July and and August..... no issues keeping up.....

Are they physically the same size?

Good luck, hopefully a couple 288 owners see this soon for you

There is 43 reviews, all 4 stars and above

Here is a review that seems to relate to your situation.
9000 btu marineaire September 4, 2012
Reviewer: dieter mayer from pine beach, NJ United States
I have a 280 sundancer with a cruisair unit 10,000btu ,the compressor went bad.The Marinaire unit is priced rite ,very easy to install ,unit is compact will almost fit in any small compartment ,very efficient .Unit works excellent!

There was another review where the person used the 9,000 BTU to replace a 12000 BTU unit....

Bigger isn't always better, a smaller unit will run a little longer but will dehumidify alot better. The larger unit may not run long enough to pull the humidity out of the air and will satisfy on temperature before it does. We have a 10k unit on our 328 and works perfectly. We see temps here in Ontario during the summer months high 80's with very high humidity.
All units have the same compentnts just different thermostats for the most part. All of them still use a rotary compressor
Just my opinion.

Thanks for the replies. I purchased the Marinaire 9k for 1245.00. The price is right and it fits.

Thanks again.
