I have a 94 258 Vista. Its a 7.4 OMC 454 with King Cobra Outdrive. Its been very good to me. Coming back from a day on the water this weekend, the outdrive started making this loud thumping and grinding sound. Worse at higher then idle speed, and even worse turning. My initial thought is the u jpoint, someone also mentioned a gimble bearing. I thought I would replace both since ill be in there. Anyone think of anything else it could be? Could the drive be shot? Its still moves in forward and reverse. Do I need to find a tool to remove the gimble bearing or to align the drive back? Kevin |
