A/C is not spitting water. I hear pump spinning. A/C unit is functional.
Scanned several manuals and forum posts.
A suggestion was to prime the pump by sticking a hose in the discharge thru-hull.
One post said the hole was port side, 5 ft from the stern. That's the aft deck drain.
Where is this discharge? Into the bilge?
Going to do a process of elimination next but maybe one of you can help.

Thanks.

Mine (2002) is on port side, the most aft is a scupper drain, the second one (smaller) is the AC discharge.

I am on a lift, I do Not close the sea cock very week, so I loose Prime. If I let The boat sit in the water for 15-30 mins, the water works outs way up to the pump and self primes. Maybe one out of 10 times I have To prime. I found It easiest to put the hose on the discharge until I see Bubbles, water moving under the boat, then kick it in..... it may do a little water then stop. Repeat a couple more times usually does it....

Just run the boat for a few minutes on plane.
My 278 will push water all the way thru when running and have a constant stream coming out of the A/C drain (with out the A/C running).
Any time I pull the boat, it has to re-prime itself and this is the easiest way.

you can also use a shop vac on the thru hull and suck the water through

I used the dock hose trick and push water through the output on the 258, you need to run it for a minute or so to make sure it pushes all the air out. BUT another way is to crack the top of the sea strainer to get the air out while its running. You need two people, one to turn on the AC and another to crack the sea strainer to let the air out. My AC unit would shutoff if there is no water supplied after a couple minutes so 2 people save me from running back and forth.
I have to use the crack the seas strainer trick on the boat we have now because there are 2 units and 2 outputs but only one pump. I cannot send water backwards as easily or else it goes out the other output.

The intake on my 268 always sucked up milfoil pieces and plugged the sea cock. The only way I could get the weeds our was to close sea cock, romove hose, pull what I could out and then open sea cock for a second. Sometimes I had to pick the weeds through (back) with a stick. Be quick as water starts to come through the sea cock. Shut valve and attached hose. We had to do this often when using the AC at the dock.

New to me 268 AC runs for 10-30 minutes and then the pump shuts off. About 15 seconds later the dreaded HPF appears. I am betting the pump is the culprit because I can hear it shut off. Hoping it isn’t the board. 250 sounds better than 1250!

My stream is perfect until the pump kicks off. Very weird.

Quoting myself... i put a new pump in today and the a/c ran until I turned it off which was longer than it had ever run before. I’m going to call this one solved for me!

You should be able to hear it kick on about 10 seconds before the air-conditioner blower does. And about five seconds after you flip the power switch to on. The order of operations is pump then blower then condenser. No pump means the other parts won’t work. Post a pic of your pump. We may be able to tell you something about it.

You should be able to disconnect the discharge line from the pump. When just sitting in the water it will drip a little bit. When the pump kicks on, it should spit a lot out. This is how you can tell if your pump is actually working or not. In my case, it would spit for a while and then stop.

Don’t worry about too much water getting in the bilge. That is what your bilge pump is for!

Thank you Guppy!
I will post a pic ASAP. I do hear it when I turn the A/C on. Kind of a low whine.
I plan to check both sides of the pump to verify they're clear.

Did you have a chance to test the pump? Good to put closure on this thread if you got it fixed. I hope so!!

Got water spitting! I closed the seacock to the intake and backwashed it from the strainer.
Presto - water flowing out in a steady, thick stream. :D
It doesn't seem to be getting too cold. Been running it for about 30 minutes and the air is still kinda warm.

Can you add Freon the Marine Air Systems A/C? :x
