Post subject:  278 seating layout?

Just sold our 250 Sea Ray Sundancer the other night so looking for our next boat. Looking at 26-30'. Looked at a friends 2006 258 last night and wife liked how the back seat layed down. The 258 is a little too small for us but if the 278 has that same feature then that might be something we would look at. Does the 278 back seat lay down or is there a center cushion to be added to make a sunpad like the 288 and up?

BTW-we looked at a 2004 288 yesterday but the shrink wrap was still on it and there were whiskey bottles all over the floor. Price was $48,000. Too much for the condition it was in and all the cleaning it needed but may look at it again.

Really would like to stay closer to $30k but for the right boat might go higher. We really disliked the seating layout in our 250 Sundancer (1986) and that limited our time on it because it wasn't comfortable. We really like the layout of the 288's and up but 288 is the biggest we would want to go.

Very similar to the 268. It’s a “U” shaped rear seat. I have A cushion that makes it in to a bed/sun pad

Not sure of the 258

Here is a link with pics, picture a cushion in the center.... i believe it was an option

The one I was on was a 2006 258. The rear of the helm seat slid back and the aft seat slid forward and connected to make a large 'sunpad'. From the pictures I have seen the 268 and 278 don't do that but do have the add in cushion to make the sunpad. Wife was really wanting a 'queen' seat like the 288's and up or like the Rinkers do. The 278 and smaller don't have that. I didn't really like the seating in that 258. Just wasn't that comfortable but was better than our old boat.
