I have a cockpit cover on my 248 now, but was wondering if anyone has tried a complete cover for storage? any model numbers would be great. Thanks |

You could get a cover made by Fisher canvas. They made a winter cover for our 348 Vista. Very well made. ![]() |

Wow, that's a great cover. If you don't mind me asking, what did that set you back? |

Just a little over $2,000. We had one made for our 268 also. |

http://www.discountboatcover.com Carver made, semi-custom fit cover for express cruisers to 26' LOA up to 103" wide with high bow rails. Made of 9 ounce solution dyed 600x600 denier nylon. It's been a fantastic cover this winter! I paid less than $600, but one caveat, it did require me to remove the spot light (which was fine, it's only going to be used during the off season). ![]() |

Ryan, You do realize it does not go down as far as the one Cattail is using? And you will have to remove the spot light if you have one. Aside from that, it's substantially cheaper than 2K and is an all around decent cover. http://www.discountboatcover.com/Produc ... directed=Y And my first post should have said "I paid less than $700" ![]() |

Powell, There is NO doubt that this cover is a bear to handle. It's not as thick as the Sunbrella that FW uses for the cockpit cover (thank god!) and it's still a bear it's still 40 pounds of cover to deal with. Somehow I can manage to put it on by myself but it must be a funny show to watch me doing it, step ladder and all! ![]() Shrinkwrap is the cats arse no doubt (if done right) the dealer where I got my 248 from had this thing shrink wrapped like it was camper canvas. They actually built 2x4 framework so the cover went up in the air like a caper canvas. You could just walk in the back of the boat (zippered man door) and it was full stand up room. Pretty darn slick! But not cheap either. |

Well, the real 'cats arse' would be a nice garage! But I have no room to build!! I looked into storage sheds, but to find one large enough to hold boat, they want too much $$$$ |

brett, it looks like i could mount my spotlight upside down and that would eliminate the need for you having to remove it to cover? |

Ryan, Not sure that mounting the spot light upside down would be a good or bad idea. I would be afraid that at some point, rainwater would run down inside the housing and cause a failure of the drive motors for the light. If you can find a good local canvas shop they may be able to stitch in a pocket for the light (and you would still have less invested than a fully 100% custom made cover). For me it was a non issue since this is my "winter" cover and I just took the light off and piled it up in my computer room with all the other boat parts! ![]() |
