Has anyone mounted anything to this panel? I want to mount a 15" flatscreen there but am worried about the strength of the material.

woggy,

I'm pretty sure that where the TV is on the new 248. I personally LOVE where my TV is and wouldn't want it on the side wall of the head.

I want to put my TV where the one is in that Picture. Is that your boat? Also, What kind of faucet do you have on your galley sink. My wife hates ours because a lot of the time, ti runs back behind the sink. Did your boat come that way or did you change it out>?

Nevermind, I see where yours is. What size TV is it? I think mine would be too small to see from there. I have a 15"

Woggy,

That's a Factory installed 15" Sharp Aquos LCD (yes that's my boat). The faucet is the factory model but I added a PUR water filter to it.

Brett,

What do you think the pros and cons would be to mounting it where yours is at instead of where I had orginally planned on mounting mine?

Just curious.

Woggy,

Pro's:

Most people in the cabin can watch it without neck strain

It's out of the way

Con's:

The guy on the starboard side sitting up against the head wall, is going to have a sore neck!

On the new 2008 V248, Four Winns installs the TV against the wall separating the head from the cabin; if they placed it like your photo we would have given adding the TV a second thought. In the factory location the person on the starboard side would still have a sore neck and also block the tv from the person to his right (forward). Four Winns should take note and think about relocating it as your photo shows. Great job, prime spot.

I showed your TV placement to my wife and she thinks that it's too far away. What's your thoughts on this? I would think that since the TV is located closer to the aft of the boat, it would take less of a beating out on the water too. UGH, Decisions, decisions.

Woggy,

It's far away but that's not a bad thing.. You could actually squeeze a 26" widescreen in that spot if you was so inclined. The 15" is a novelty, it's nice but too small. I would mount it right where mine is, but go with a 20 or 25" widescreen.

Bob,

I agree, the new mounting location FW chose is TERRIBLE! I wouldn't order a TV if I had to have it where they put it in the 08 248.

We just take on of the old lap tops (with 15" screen) and set it where its handy at the time for watching. I just installed a new radio with aux input, this way I plug in lap top, run sound through stereo system.
This has worked well for us, we have watched movies with lap top sitting on counter, in aft or sitting on shelf towards the bow. This method gives a little flexability to entertain kids.

Maybe after using lap top a few more times we may find a perfect location for a monitor!?!?!

Hello,

I found this thread and am going to be mounting a 19'' flatscreen in the same location where brett248vista has his. My question is on how to mount it properly. How did you mount the TV mount to the wall? Any details would be great!

So I take it all you guys must sleep with your heads towards the bow if you sleep in the V-berth ?
We don't so the best place for us was to mount the TV where the mirror is at the bow.
Everyone in the cabin can see it, we can see it perfectly at bed time, it can even be seen from the mid cabin.

Just my 2 cents.

OHLakerat,

I did not mount the TV so I can not say if Four Winns did anything to that bulkhead to mount the TV. To me it looks like they just used a standard LCD mount, four screws to fasten the mount to the bulk head and hung the TV.

Works great where it's at!

i am in the process of mounting a tv like brett's now. the mount is a standard mount from best buy it was about 19.00 it has a small bar that removes to lift off the t.v. so you can bring it in the house. the only problem i had was i must have hit a big pothole once and when i got home the tv was barly hanging on. there is a nice open cavity behind the wall that made it easy to run wires. you have to remove the access panel in the mid cabin ceiling and the dash (behing the steering wheel) i ran a s-video, power, and cable for the antenna from the tv to the engine compartment. The cable wire then goes to the back of the boat in the rope locker where i will have a powered antenna. the s-video and power runs across the engine compartment and then back to the breaker panel where i have it tied into the power. the s-video then goes to the dvd player on top of the cabinet. The dvd player sound output then goes to the aux input on the radio. when we watch movies i just turn the fader to full front then i have a surround soud because the tv speakers are on, the speakers are on in the front of the boat and the subwoofer still fires. i have a 15" insgnia that has a great picture when viewing from the v-birth. i also put a outlet in the rope locker for the powered antenna and for my honda gen. so dont have the big power cable going across the boat to the power hookup on the side. if i could figure out how to post pictures i will. - Ryan
