I was starting to think time had not only stopped but actually started to reverse itself. But the day is here and on Saturday we took delivery of our new V248. It was a perfect day, flat seas, minimal wind and no one at the ramp. After our sea trials our plan was to start storing all the gear; as you can see by the boxes lined up at the dock plans changed. Friends came from all over and our first official dock party began. Well that left twice as much for me too do on Sunday but it was so worth it. Saturday we spent our first night on her and I was afraid it would be cold on the boat so I prepared the heater to turn on if needed. Far from it I actually had to open a hatch to cool the cabin down. We only turned on the heat once we started to move around in the morning. Can’t wait for next weekend! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes she is; the seas were so flat that I wanted to see how she would cut though the water. I had her up around 28 MPH (by the GPS) and I brought her around through her own wake. It cut straight through it like a knife through butter. After we docked I noticed that there was a half empty bottle of Power Stering oil still upright. In my old Stingray everything would have come off the shelves. |

Great weekend to be on the water Bob. We were actually out on the CT river yesterday. We were not on our boat, but on a sea trial. We decided to finally take the Nordic tug for a ride. Great day to be on the water. We are all set to launch the Vista. All the projects are done. We are not supposed to move in to the slip until May 1st. Only two more weekends till we are there. The boat looks great Bob. Have fun with it. |

Nice looking boat, be careful of the early season debris on the river...you'll see some big logs out there this time of year. We're supposed to be in within the next couple of days and expect to spend this weekend on the boat...been a long winter, but the last couple of weeks have made up for it. |

That is why we stay away from the CT River; we started there several years ago and it was usually taken to mid June before the logs diminished and the river levels dropped. The Mystic River is feed by a very shallow (more like tributary) river; logs usually are not a problem there but in any case we prefer Long Island and Block Island Sounds. How is it in the Essex area? Portland/Middletown as you know is still at flood stage |

Did not realize you were not on the CT River...the river starts to widen some in Essex so the debris is not so concentrated, just need to keep a look out and it does subside in May. Used to spend more time on the river, but it is to busy / crowded on weekends so we spend much more time on the Sound....head your way a few times....anchor out at Ram Island and East Cove on Fishers...went about four times last year to 3 Mile Harbor and at least three times to the Thimble Islands...save CT River cruisers for days that we're there during the week. Have fun, great looking boat. |

Yes we are it will be our second year. We are starting to plan our trips for this summer. Forth of July fireworks in Hartford were great last year. We spent the night on the stingray looking foward to have some comfort this year on the 258. We spend the night instead of fighting the traffic at night. What a great ride down the river it is in the morning. |

Yes it is; it’s a personal preference if you think the extra cost is worth it or not. We ordered our boat at the Hartford boat show and our dealer gave us all the options at his cost so it was a $950 option. It was the single most debated aspect of our purchase. My wife really loved the look and I was having a hard time justifying the extra cost when in reality you are not getting something of a benefit. We both agreed that it dressed up the boat and with the tan color I think it looks AWSOME. If you believe what is written they clam it is easier to keep clean and that aside I do not regret the extra cost. Have you seen the photos in “Guess what I got today”; a 248 owner “teaked” his entire cockpit. That really dresses up the boat. |
