At the boat shows All those new boats looks so shiny. Especially the polished stainless steel anchors that they mount on the front of them. Well when purchasing my new V358 I inquired about having that anchor on my new boat and was told that it was a $1400 adder from FourWinns. Well needless to say I did not go for that. After an exhaustive search on the internet I found the very same 22lb Delta style wedge anchor in 316 Stainless Steel with a mirror finish for $300.00. Turns out the guy selling them has his warehouse in Secaucus NJ which is only 10 minutes away from my office. I spoke with him on the phone and he offered to hand deliver it to my office. Well I was a little nevous to see what the quality of the anchor was going to be however when it arrived I was really surprised at the quality. The welds are impeccable, the construction is identical to the Delta that West Marine sells for $1100. I am now looking for Stainless Steel chain to add to the Rode. If anyone is interested in this I found it on Ebay. Just enter in Stainless Steel anchor and search the entire site. |

The S.S. Anchor's offered with most of the express cruisers from all the different manufacturers are either Delta or Lewmar. They are extremely pricey and well made. Sure there are lots of "generic" anchors out there in S.S. for a lot less but they won't say Delta or they won't say Lewmar. I personally don't have a problem with that!
