Welcome Todd! You can use an online photo storage like photobucket and then link to them from the forum...

Congrats on the purchase! Are you keeping that boat on Moses Lake? Someone once told me Moses lake wasn't deep or big enough for the big boats? What's the scoop?

Cougar,
We keep it at seven bay marina on lake roosevelt June/Sept. We will trailer it to the coast to cruise the san juans and canada. Will try to post pics.

Here are a few pics. More to come. The boat is getting bottom paint now and is still under shrink wrap with the arch down.

Nice pictures!

Is that the stern rail option? I'd love to hear how it feels once installed.

It's a bit odd they put the Vessel View display screen on the front face of a step leading up to the foredeck. Seems like a "less-than-ideal" place to go putting a GLASS LCD screen. I could just see someone stubbing their toes into it on the way up, or worse, slamming their heel into it on the way down. But it's not like there's an abundance of other surfaces. Keep that cover handy, eh?

It's also interesting to see the vinyl covered panel just under the steering wheel. What's that there for? Seems like it'd just get scuffed up, as I know that same area on our 348 gets it's share of feet against it. Is it covering an access panel or something? Given that it's a curve I could see where it'd be hard to get a hatch cover on it. Just seems odd.

Nice to see that rail around the stove. We never use ours though but the rail would be a welcome addition if we did.

I take it you didn't get the galley TV option?

Todd - congratulations... looks great!

I'm sure everyone is eager to hear about your experience with the Axius system. You'll be the first person a lot of us will hear from who owns it. Good luck with all the prep and launch & we'll look forward to more pictures.
I would recommend you reduce the pictures a bit before pasting the code - pictures as large as yours can really slow down page-loading time.

Congrats again!

Ya Go Cougs. Our son is a junior this year. No bow thruster needed. Axius system lets the drives move independt from each other all with the joy stick. See merc web site.

Will let you know how we like the rail option.
We were also suprised with the vessel view mount. Will see if it usable located there during trial. NOT very happy with the loacation. IT maybe a BIG issue with me before signing..
The cover under the wheel I have been told was need for wiring the axius system/vessel view ETC? Also NOT very happy with it as well. Not sure why they can wire the hole boat but had to cut a hole in my lower helm and then just put that cover over it. IT may also be a BIG issue with me before signing.. As for the TV you are correct. We asked for it to be deleted and they are putting the cabinet from the v358 wall/spice cabinet in its place. We had the stateroom option put on this boat so there is a TV in the stateroom cabin. We also had the same TV mounted in a different location in the rear cabin so didnt see a need for that big TV hitting us in the head while cooking. Will keep updating the progress. Bottom was primered yesterday and painted today. Maybe in the water by the end of the month?

By "bottom was primered" do you mean barrier coated? Hopefully that was done first before any primer or paint is applied.

As far as the Vessel View location, where else could it possibly go? The helm on the 338 is very small for a boat that size, and they did not plan on axius or this when designing the boat. I think your going to have to live with it. I can see a redesign coming for this soonly.

Cap
may have been able to external mount it if vessel view can? On my old chappy my gps was mounted with a side mount that could swing out of the way when not in use. would be a better option then where they put it. As for paint yes used interlux interprotect it is a barrier/primer.

Interlux Interprotect® 2000E
Interlux Micron® Extra with Biolux®

Awesome. What a beautiful boat. I will look you up in 10 years when you are ready to move up, and we might be able to afford a 338.
